CDT Fort Cohort 2 Cyber Module at CSIT
Cohort 2 Kicks off with Foundations of Cyber Module
CDT Fort is delighted to welcome Cohort 2 who commenced the programme in October and have just completed their first block module, Foundations of Cyber Security, at the Centre for Secure Information Technologies (CSIT), Queen’s University Belfast. Delivered by Dr. Tuan Hoang, the module provided a comprehensive introduction to the cyber security landscape, covering:
Understanding of cyber security and its evolving landscape
Awareness of fundamental cyber security concepts
Identifying cyber security risks and threats
Exploring the impact and context of cyber security in society
The in-person small group format fostered engaging discussions and case studies, allowing participants to deepen their understanding through collaborative learning.
A highlight of the week was an exclusive tour of CSIT’s cutting-edge facilities, led by CSIT engineers. The cohort explored the Network Security Lab, learned about CNI research facilities, honeypot setups, and malware research networks, and enjoyed live demos in CSIT’s renowned Red Room.
Beyond the classroom, the group bonded over a festive food tour of Belfast, experiencing the city’s vibrant culture and cuisine.
Looking ahead, the next module will take place in January at ICS, University of Surrey, where researchers will also have the opportunity to connect with industry partners at the Ideas Lab.
