Cohort 2 OSN Module Completion
Cohort 2 Successfully Completes Open Secure Networks Block Module at the University of Surrey
CDT-Fort Cohort 2
CDT-Fort Researchers in Cohort 2 participated in the Open Secure Networks (OSN) module at the University of Surrey during the last week of January 2026. This training week formed a key part of their doctoral preparation, bringing together early‑stage researchers from Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Surrey to deepen their expertise in secure communication systems and emerging network technologies.
The module explored these key areas:
Communication Networks Overview
Open System Interconnection Layers
Network Service Management and Software Defined
Networks
Open Networks
Physical Layer Security
Enquiry Based Learning for Open Secure Networks
Delivered as an intensive, week‑long module, the OSN module equips the researchers with a strong grounding in network management, security, and emerging developments in network technologies. These insights will be instrumental as they move forward into their group research projects and begin their PhD studies.
